How do I become a Maths Recovery Teacher?

Many teachers who attend the Maths Recovery Intervention Specialist Course wish to go on to be accredited as a Maths Recovery Teacher.

In order to be accredited as a Maths Recovery teacher you will need to demonstrate that you:

• hold a teaching qualification
• have attended a course of study approved by the Maths Recovery Council, UK and Ireland
• have administered all nine LFIN assessment interviews
• taught a child for at least 40 individual sessions
• kept a reflective journal
• submitted an assignment of a case study focusing on a chosen child you have taught

The case study should include:

  • two video assessment interviews and associated annotated scripts and video clips of at least two lessons with associated lesson plans
  • a reflection upon your Maths Recovery experience demonstrating your understanding of the programme.
  • a short documentation of the child’s progress in mathematics
